A Lancashire chippy has been named Britain's Fish and Chip Shop of the Year.
Seniors at Marsh Mill in Thornton, is run by brothers Alistair and Dominic Horabin, who also have shops in Lytham and Blackpool. Alistair said of the win: “It’s an honour beyond our wildest dreams."
Awards presenter and TV chef Richard Corrigan said: "Combining heritage with innovation, skill with approach, attention to detail with great produce, Seniors well deserve their title of the UK's best fish and chip takeaway. A brilliant execution."
Purpose built in 2006, Seniors Thornton is a modern take on traditional fish and chips. It offers modern decor and impressive surroundings with a 100-seater, two-storey restaurant and take-away with ample parking opposite.
The Thornton shop was also a finalist in the Independent Restaurant of the Year and Good Catch categories.
The National Fish and Chip Shop Awards is promoted by Seafish, the organisation responsible for the seafood industry.
