Celebrating 175 Years of Fleetwood

It’s set to be a lively weekend on 28 and 29 May as Fleetwood Town comes alive with events to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the town.
Saturday 28 May is Maritime Music Day with various events organized by the Fylde Folk Festival taking place in venues throughout Fleetwood.
Marine Hall will play host to the Maritime Music Concert from 7.45pm. Raising funds for the 2011 Folk Festival, the concert features internationally known singer and songwriter Alan Bell supported by band members Eddie and Andrew Green and Sue Jennings.as well as performers including Hughie Jones, Scolds Bridle, Derek Gifford, Trim Rig and a Doxy.
There’s also short History of Sea Shanties at Fleetwood Museum at 12.30pm -1.45pm as well as “We are the Women” a musical tribute to the wives of Fleetwood fishermen from 2.00pm.
You can enjoy the music of The Festival Ceildh Band at the Mount Hotel at 12.30pm - 2.30pm or enjoy events throughout the day at the Victoria Bar at the North Euston Hotel.
On Sunday 29 May the music continues at the North Euston with artists playing from 12.30 – 4.30 including spitting On A Roast, Bernie Brewin, Steph & Joe, Troubadour.
