New Animal Paddocks at Old Holly

15th April 2011

Categories: Latest News

Old Holly Farm is excited to announce the opening of its new outdoor animal paddocks in time for Easter. The new paths provide a great way to meet the animals and are fully accessible by wheelchair or pram. Best of all – entrance to the new paddocks is FREE!

Old Holly Farm has introduced the new track to help people learn about the animals at the farm. It was put into place so wheelchairs and prams can reach the farms animals such as sheep, calves and chickens in their own fields. Visitors will also be able to watch the cows coming in for milking every day at 4pm.

The paths aid in education for all customers, but also with school trips, intending that there will be no muddy shoes and encouraging children to learn outside the classroom. For example visitors will be able to see the chickens, the coupe where they lay their eggs and are collected, and see the source of what they eat.

Alison Longton, the farm’s General Manager, is delighted at the opening of the paddocks, “We are really pleased to be able to offer all our customers the chance to enjoy meeting our animals outdoors. We invited some of the residents from Leonard Cheshire Disability, Oaklands, Garstang to try out our new paths, and they were thrilled with this addition to the farm. Oaklands have been loyal customers, and they work hard to offer a range of flexible services all dedicated to one thing – to support and enable people, helping them to get the most out of life and achieve their personal goals. It’s fantastic we can offer customers like Oaklands access to our farm.
